WHAT IS RIDERLESS TRANSPORT SYSTEM?

Automated transport by AGV

A driverless transport system (AGV) is a self-driving, automated vehicle. In most cases it is used in logistics or production. An automated guided vehicle system does not require human guidance. It navigates automatically through the room and takes the desired routes flexibly and reliably. The driverless transport system supports you when pulling or carrying goods. The central task of the AGV is the automated material transport of goods for production and logistics processes. In most cases, the transport takes place by an automated guided vehicle system within buildings. However, there are also outdoor use cases. Emm! builds driverless transport systems in a modular system. This means that every vehicle can be implemented, regardless of whether it is indoor or outdoor.

AGV communication

An external control system can be used to allow several driverless transport systems to communicate with each other and to drive in a coordinated manner. An external master control system turns several individual vehicles into a coordinated swarm. The advantages of an AGVS control system are the flexible coordination of the material flow and the increase in productivity and avoidance of interruptions.

AGV navigation

Depending on the technology used, the AGV navigates via rails in the floor, magnets or SLAM navigation. Emm! As a manufacturer of driverless transport systems, solutions relies on SLAM navigation. With SLAM navigation, the AGV is navigated through the laser scanner. When the driverless transport system is put into operation, the vehicle is driven manually through the hall once. The AGV records the surroundings in the form of a map. The map is saved. The driverless transport system can now navigate automatically within the map.

This approach shows the flexibility of an automated guided vehicle system with SLAM navigation compared to a rail-based solution. If production or logistics are rebuilt, the card can be re-added in a short time. The new loading and unloading stations are also shown on the AGV. This means that the conversion of production or logistics is cheaper and faster than the conversion of rail-bound systems.
