What is technology 7

Curriculum PLUS

valid from the 2019/20 school year

T7 Learning area 1: Technical communication: technical freehand drawing

Competence Expectations

The students ...

Contents of the competencies:
  • Basic geometric shapes and changes in shape on workpieces (e.g. drilling, rounding)
  • Drawing equipment (e.g. pencil 6H, 3H, HB)
  • Estimate (e.g. distances, angles)
  • Communication rules (e.g. hidden body edges, visible body edges)

T7 Learning area 2: Construction and production: wood technology - plastics technology - metal technology

Competence Expectations

The students ...

  • complete planning documents (e.g. material lists, work step sequences), also using a word processing program.
  • take on partial aspects of work preparation by z. B. Providing and equipping tools and organizing your workplace.
  • carry out selected manufacturing processes with different materials, in particular drilling with electric drills (e.g. drill press, cordless screwdriver) safely and professionally in order to produce simple, individually designed workpieces and observe the provisions of occupational health and safety.
  • assess deviations between planning specifications (e.g. technical freehand drawing, parts list) and the end product in order to formulate opportunities for improvement for future action.
Contents of the competencies:
  • Solid wood and wood-based materials: measuring, scribing, separating (e.g. sawing, filing), joining (e.g. gluing, screwing), coating (e.g. oiling, waxing)
  • Metallic semi-finished products: measuring, scribing, cutting (e.g. shearing, sawing), joining (e.g. soft soldering, screwing) or forming (e.g. bending, driving)
  • Semi-finished plastic products: measuring, scribing, cutting (e.g. sawing, peeling off), joining (e.g. screwing and gluing) or forming (e.g. bending)
  • Drilling: operating elements, complete drilling process (preparation, implementation, completion)
  • Safety and health regulations for working with wood, metal and plastic, workplace organization
  • Planning documents (e.g. material lists, work step sequences)
Everyday skills

T7 Learning area 3: Design and production: electrical engineering

Competence Expectations

The students ...

Contents of the competencies:
  • Functions of components (e.g. setting switches, buttons)
  • Circuit diagram (e.g. symbols, arrangement)
  • Soldering: measuring (e.g. cable length, distances), scribing (e.g. cable routing and length, position of the components), cutting (e.g. wire strippers, wire cutters), reshaping (e.g. twisting, bending eyes ), Joining (e.g. tin-plating, soldering)
  • Measuring devices (e.g. operating elements, specifying measuring range)
  • Safety regulations for soft soldering, workplace organization
